About us

about-us

During a time of significant growth in Pentecostal ministries in Kanyakumari District, in the year 1984, the Lord gave a vision to Pastor Y. S. Devasundaram. In response to this divine leading, Pastor N. Thomas and Pastor Isaac Christian joined him in prayer. Together, they established a fellowship known as “Deva Uzhiayar Aikkiyam” (Pastors’ Fellowship) with the purpose of uniting Pentecostal ministers in prayer, unity, and spiritual fellowship.

The Lord, who inspired the formation of this fellowship, has graciously sustained and guided it to the present day.

The organization, which had been functioning actively and effectively, continued to experience steady growth. On 3 October 2006, with the vision of including believers alongside ministers, it was officially registered as a society under the name “Federation of Pentecostal Churches” at Nagercoil.

The transition from the Pastors’ Fellowship to the Federation of Pentecostal Churches (FPC) marked a significant phase of structural and organizational development. With this transformation, the leadership framework was broadened, and several dedicated leaders assumed responsibilities to guide the vision and strengthen the growth of the FPC. This reorganization reflected a purposeful and well-structured effort to promote unity, collaboration, and deeper spiritual commitment within the Pentecostal community.

With a burden to extend this vision throughout Tamil Nadu, Pastor Y. S. Devasundaram, together with Pastor J. J. Y. from Madurai, took active steps to expand the fellowship. What began as a fellowship of churches and leaders gradually extended its reach across eighteen districts.

Continuing Pastor Devasundaram’s vision under divine guidance, and under the leadership of Pastor Owen Roberts, the Synod of Pentecostal Churches was officially registered as a trust in Chennai in 2008, bringing together church leaders from Chennai to Kanyakumari.

In 2014, it was formally registered in Madurai under the name “The Synod of Pentecostal Churches” and has been functioning actively since that time.
